EDMONTON — The Edmonton Elks have sold more than 30,000 tickets for Saturday's Western Final against the BC Lions at Commonwealth Stadium, the club announced Wednesday night.
The game is on pace to potentially be the most attended CFL playoff game in Edmonton in over 20 years.
The last home playoff game in Edmonton was the 2015 Western Final, when the club beat the Calgary Stampeders 45-31 in front of 34,414 fans. The last time Edmonton drew more than 35,000 for a home playoff game was the 2004 West Semi-Final against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, which drew 37,359.
Saturday will be the third time this season the Elks have opened the upper bowl at Commonwealth Stadium, following Aug. 1 against Saskatchewan (31,757) and Sept. 12 against Calgary (31,531). The upper bowl was closed for the 2024 season to bring fans closer to the action.
Kickoff Saturday is 5:30 p.m. ABT. The winner advances to the 113th Grey Cup in Calgary on Nov. 15.
