Canada Sets Roster for Historic Summer on Home Soil

TORONTO — Canada Soccer has unveiled the 26 players who will represent Canada at FIFA World Cup 2026, marking the country's first men's World Cup appearance on home soil.

Head coach Jesse Marsch announced the roster during a nationally televised primetime special, with each player's name revealed on Toronto's CN Tower overlooking the city skyline and Toronto Stadium.

“It is an honour to name our squad for a World Cup on home soil,” Marsch said. “These players reflect the many communities, cultures, and journeys that make up this country. They are determined, fearless, and proud to wear Canada across their chest.”

The squad is led by stars Alphonso Davies, Jonathan David, Stephen Eustáquio, Alistair Johnston, Moïse Bombito and Dayne St. Clair, while Promise David, Owen Goodman and Luc de Fougerolles are among the younger players set to experience their first World Cup.

Canada will play pre-tournament send-off matches against Uzbekistan on June 1 in Edmonton and the Republic of Ireland on June 5 in Montréal before opening Group B play on June 12 in Toronto.

The Canadians were drawn alongside Bosnia and Herzegovina, Qatar and Switzerland. Their group-stage schedule continues June 18 and June 24 in Vancouver.

Among the notable storylines is the inclusion of Edmonton-raised Alphonso Davies, who returns to his home province for Canada's final tune-up match before the tournament. Nova Scotia native Jacob Shaffelburg, Toronto FC veteran Jonathan Osorio and leading scorer Jonathan David also headline a roster carrying expectations into the biggest tournament in Canadian soccer history.

The FIFA World Cup runs from June 11 through July 19 across Canada, Mexico and the United States.
