Love, Stampeders Finish Preseason Unbeaten with Win Over Elks
EDMONTON — Josh Love threw a touchdown pass and the Calgary Stampeders capped an unbeaten preseason with a 21-18 victory over the Edmonton Elks on Friday night at Clarke Stadium.
Love was sharp in limited action, completing seven of eight passes for 80 yards and a touchdown. His biggest play was a 42-yard scoring strike to Dante Wright.
Rashod Owens led Calgary receivers with four catches for 59 yards, while Wright turned his lone reception into a touchdown.
The Stampeders also received rushing touchdowns from quarterbacks Jacolby Criswell and Ben Wooldridge.
Criswell completed three of four passes for 19 yards and added 41 rushing yards on five carries. Wooldridge finished 5-of-9 passing for 58 yards and scored on the ground.
Calgary closes exhibition play at 2-0 and now turns its attention to final roster decisions ahead of the regular season.
