Memorial Cup playoff scenarios remain unsettled entering Wednesday finale

KELOWNA, B.C. — Wednesday’s Memorial Cup round-robin finale between the host Kelowna Rockets and Everett Silvertips will determine the remaining semifinal and tiebreak positions after the Kitchener Rangers clinched first place with Tuesday’s 3-2 win over the Chicoutimi Saguenéens.



An Everett victory would send the Silvertips directly into Friday’s semifinal against Chicoutimi.



If Everett loses by one goal, the Silvertips would still advance to the semifinal, while Kelowna and Chicoutimi would meet in Thursday’s tiebreaker.



If Kelowna wins by two goals or more, the Rockets would advance directly to the semifinal, while Everett and Chicoutimi would move to the tiebreaker game.



Kelowna enters Wednesday’s matchup still searching for its first victory of the tournament, while Everett sits at 1-1 through two games.
