Stampeders trim roster with 10 players released ahead of CFL deadline
CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders continued shaping their 2026 roster Wednesday, releasing 10 players as part of the latest Canadian Football League roster reduction deadline.
Among the notable moves were the departures of U.S. receiver Shaq Davis, U.S. defensive lineman B.J. Thompson and U.S. defensive back Josh Proctor as Calgary trimmed its training camp roster ahead of the regular season.
The Stampeders also released U.S. defensive back Millard Bradford, National offensive lineman Rodeem Brown, U.S. defensive back Corey Coley Jr., U.S. defensive lineman Savio Frazier, U.S. receiver Jordan Kerley, National linebacker Kaylyn St-Cyr and National defensive lineman Max von Muehldorfer.
The CFL’s roster cutdown period forces teams across the league to make difficult decisions as veterans, draft picks and camp invitees compete for limited roster spots before final rosters are finalized.
Calgary has spent training camp evaluating depth across multiple positions, particularly in the secondary and along the defensive line, where several of Wednesday’s cuts were concentrated.
The Stampeders are continuing preparations for the 2026 CFL season under head coach and general manager Dave Dickenson as the club looks to return to playoff contention in the West Division.
