Stamps add U.S. receiver Nunu Whatley as camp roster takes shape

CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders continued reshaping their training camp roster Saturday, signing U.S. receiver Nunu Whatley while announcing a series of moves involving veterans, releases, injuries and suspensions ahead of the 2026 CFL season.

Whatley arrives in Calgary after finishing his collegiate career at the University of Arizona, where he recorded 41 receptions for 490 yards and five touchdowns across 13 games during the 2025 season. The 5-foot-10 receiver also added a rushing dimension with eight carries for 36 yards and another score, earning all-Big 12 honourable mention recognition.

Before transferring to Arizona, the Rockmart, Georgia native spent three seasons at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, producing 108 catches for 1,810 yards and 12 touchdowns from 2022 through 2024. He earned Southern Conference all-freshman honours in 2022 and later secured second-team all-conference recognition in 2023.

The addition gives Calgary another speed option as the club continues evaluating its receiving depth during camp.

The Stampeders also announced several roster transactions Saturday, including the release of U.S. receiver Corey Dyches, U.S. offensive lineman Gerald Mincey and national defensive lineman Jason Janvier-Messier.

Veteran receiver Reggie Begelton and defensive lineman Folarin Orimolade were both moved to the injured veterans list.

Global defensive back Bailey Devine-Scott was placed on the six-game injured list.

Meanwhile, U.S. receiver Ryan Jones and U.S. offensive lineman Ed Montilus were added to the suspended list as Calgary continued trimming and reorganizing its roster ahead of the regular season.
