FIFA takes Women’s Champions Cup 2027 to Miami: finals set for Nu Stadium in January

MIAMI — Miami keeps collecting soccer's biggest stages.

FIFA announced Sunday that the final four of the 2027 FIFA Women's Champions Cup will be played at Nu Stadium, Inter Miami's new home. The semifinals go Jan. 27, followed by a double-header on Sunday, Jan. 31: the bronze final, then the trophy decider.

Four clubs are already in. Club América Femenil qualified as Concacaf W Champions Cup holders. FC Barcelona Femení are in as European champions. North Korea's Naegohyang took the Asian berth and Auckland United represents Oceania. The South American and African champions, decided in October and November, complete the field.

The format is a straight knockout climb. Naegohyang meets Auckland United in round one, with the winner facing the African champions in round two. Then it is Miami: América against the round-two winner in one semifinal, Barcelona against the South American champions in the other.

Arsenal won the inaugural edition in February, beating Corinthians 3-2 in the final in London. Gotham FC, Concacaf's first representatives, took third.

"The FIFA Women's Champions Cup was created with a clear ambition: to give the best clubs in the world the chance to compete on the global stage every year," said Jill Ellis, FIFA's chief football officer. "Miami provides a perfect setting to showcase the quality and global appeal of women's club football."

Here is the Canadian thread: América's Miami ticket came from winning the Concacaf W Champions Cup, the same continental trophy on the other end of Canada's new W Canadian Championship. Calgary Wild just reached that cup's semifinals. The road from ATCO Field to Miami is long, but for the first time, it is drawn on a map.
