Barry strikes again as Everton beat Newcastle 1-0

NEWCASTLE, England — Thierno Barry scored four minutes into the second half as Everton beat Newcastle United 1-0 at St James' Park on Monday, the visitors' second win over Newcastle in five days.

After a goalless first half, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall played in Tyrique George in the 49th minute, and when George's shot slipped under goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek, Barry was there to tap the rebound in from close range. The goal stood after a long video review for offside.

Barry also scored on Thursday, when Everton beat Newcastle 3-1 at Hill Dickinson Stadium to reach the League Cup quarterfinals.

Everton had carried the threat before the break as well, with Barry and Armstrong both missing chances in the first half.

Newcastle finished the match with 10 men, Jacob Ramsey sent off in the eighth minute of stoppage time.
