Portugal is on the march in the October edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola Men's World Ranking, climbing two spots to fifth as the only movers among the top 10.

The Portuguese leapfrogged Brazil (sixth, down one) and Morocco (seventh, down one) after a four-match winning streak to kick off their UEFA Nations League campaign.

World champions Spain extended their lead at the summit after a clean sweep of Nations League victories. Argentina, the beaten finalists at FIFA World Cup 2026, sit second but now trail Spain by almost 40 points, with France holding third.

Further down, Switzerland (12th, up two) made eye-catching headway, passing Germany and Croatia, who slipped to 13th and 14th respectively. Spain, Portugal and Switzerland have all opened their Nations League campaigns with four straight wins.

Among the other notable risers inside the top 50, Mali (47th) and South Africa (48th) both soared six places, while Greece (41st) climbed five spots after going four games unbeaten. Czechia (51st) and Peru (53rd) dropped out of the top 50.

A total of 338 men's internationals have been played since the World Cup final on July 19, including UEFA and Concacaf Nations League matches and Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifying. Canada's October friendlies against Peru and the United States fell inside the window.

Canada rose three places to 27th in the October ranking. The 1-0 friendly defeat to the United States cost 3.85 ranking points.

The next edition of the ranking will be published on November 18.
