Auger-Aliassime defends Paris final points as the last Masters 1000 opens

PARIS — Felix Auger-Aliassime goes into the Paris Masters ranked seventh in the world, with the points from last year's run to the final on the line at the last ATP Masters 1000 event of the season.

The tournament runs Nov. 2 to 8 in Paris. Auger-Aliassime reached the final there a year ago, losing to Jannik Sinner 6-4, 7-6(4), and the 650 points from that run come off his ranking this week. He holds 3,515 points, behind Sinner (10,450), Alexander Zverev (9,750) and Carlos Alcaraz (5,610) at the top of the rankings.

His place at the ATP Finals in Turin is the longer shot. In the PIF ATP Live Race to Turin, which counts 2026 points only and sends the top eight to the Finals, Auger-Aliassime sits 16th with 2,465 points. Frances Tiafoe holds the eighth and last qualifying spot at 3,380, and the Paris champion earns 1,000 points.

Alcaraz arrives in Paris off the title in Vienna, where he beat Alex de Minaur in the final. Denis Shapovalov, the other Canadian in the top 100, is ranked 52nd with 1,015 points and lost to Taylor Fritz in the round of 16 in Basel last week.
