Adams Jr. headlines Calgary’s preseason opener against Saskatchewan

CALGARY — Vernon Adams Jr. is set to start at quarterback as the Calgary Stampeders open their 2026 exhibition schedule Monday afternoon against the Saskatchewan Roughriders at McMahon Stadium.


The Stampeders released their position chart Sunday ahead of the 1 p.m. MT kickoff, with Adams Jr. listed as Calgary’s starting quarterback. Josh Love is slotted behind him, while Ben Wooldridge and Jacolby Criswell are also expected to see action.


Calgary’s receiving group includes several familiar names, with Jalen Philpot listed at slotback and Clark Barnes starting at wide receiver. Erik Brooks, Rashod Owens and Vyshonne Janusas are also among the receivers expected to dress.


Micah Teitz headlines the defence at middle linebacker, while Daniel Joseph and Charles Wiley are among the projected starters on the defensive line.


Several established veterans are listed as inactive for the preseason opener, including Reggie Begelton, Folarin Orimolade, Rene Paredes and Dedrick Mills.


Monday’s game will be broadcast on QR Calgary and streamed on CFL+.
