Criswell, Wooldridge set for first reps in Stamps preseason opener

CALGARY — The Calgary Stampeders open their 2026 preseason schedule Monday afternoon against the Saskatchewan Roughriders at McMahon Stadium, with several rookies and young players expected to feature prominently in the club’s first game action of the year.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. MT on Victoria Day as Calgary begins preparations for a season carrying heightened expectations following last year’s trip to the West Division Final.

Among the players expected to draw attention are rookie quarterbacks Jacolby Criswell and Ben Wooldridge, both slated to make their first appearances in Stampeders colours during preseason action.

Monday’s matchup will also provide Calgary with an extended look at members of its 2026 CFL Draft class as roster battles continue throughout training camp.

The preseason opener marks Calgary’s first exhibition meeting with Saskatchewan since 2019, when the Stampeders earned a 37-10 victory at Mosaic Stadium.

Fans arriving early at McMahon Stadium can take part in pregame festivities at the East Fan Zone beginning at 11 a.m. MT, including autograph sessions with select players before kickoff.

Halftime entertainment will feature participants from the NFL Flag Canada youth program scrimmaging on the field between the second and third quarters.

Calgary continues preseason play May 29 against the Edmonton Elks before opening the regular season June 5 at home against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
