VANCOUVER — The BC Lions opened Western Final week with seven players sidelined on Tuesday.
Linebacker Darnell Sankey, named the CFL's Most Outstanding Defensive Player earlier in the day, was limited with a hand injury in the club's Day 1 injury report.
Seven players did not participate, five of them defensive linemen: Levi Bell (head), T.J. Burke (knee), Nathan Cherry (knee), David Gusta (head) and Matt Spatny (knee). Linebacker Parker McKenna (head) and defensive back Patrice Rene (shoulder) also sat out.
Six other players were limited alongside Sankey: receivers Nick Cenacle (shoulder), Nate Demontagnac (hip) and Seven McGee (foot), defensive backs Jett Elad (hip) and Stantley Thomas-Oliver (hip), and linebacker Adam Konar (knee).
The Lions visit the Edmonton Elks in the Western Final on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. ABT, with a berth in the 113th Grey Cup on the line.
