Canada opens Denmark friendly series Friday at Stade Saputo
MONTREAL — Canada's women's national team opens its two-game friendly series against Denmark on Friday at Stade Saputo, the first of two home matches that serve as the final tune-up before November's Concacaf W Championship.
Kickoff is 5 p.m. MT / 7 p.m. ET, with the match airing on TSN, RDS and OneSoccer. Friday's game is a Pride Celebration Match presented by Volkswagen. The series wraps Monday in Toronto, with kickoff at 1:30 p.m. MT / 3:30 p.m. ET at BMO Field.
The November championship carries massive stakes: it decides qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup and the LA 2028 Olympics. These are Canada's first home games since June 2025.
Head coach Casey Stoney is expected to rotate heavily across both matches as she finalizes her tournament roster. One change is already forced: defender Vanessa Gilles is out with a muscle injury suffered at Bayern Munich and will miss several weeks. Élisabeth Tsé has been called into camp as her replacement.
San Diego Wave defender Brooklyn Courtnall was added to the roster this week ahead of the series.
A notable subplot: a record six Northern Super League players are in the squad — Sabrina D'Angelo, Kaylee Hunter and Shelina Zadorsky of AFC Toronto; Delaney Baie Pridham and Melissa Dagenais of Ottawa Rapid; and Marie-Yasmine Alidou of the Montréal Roses.
Canada and Denmark sit dead even all-time at 3-3-0. Their last meeting came at the 2017 Algarve Cup.
