TSN, RDS bet on soccer’s momentum with loaded fall lineup of Canadian matches

TORONTO — The World Cup bump is real. Now comes the hard part: keeping it.

Canada Soccer and Canadian Soccer Media & Entertainment are betting on TV to do it, announcing a loaded fall lineup on TSN and RDS. Five national team matches, the decisive legs of the TELUS Canadian Championship semifinals and the Canadian Championship final on Oct. 21, all with pre-game shows and all streaming on OneSoccer too.

The slate opened with the semifinal second legs: Forge FC vs. FC Supra du Québec on Sept. 15 and CF Montréal vs. Vancouver Whitecaps on Sept. 16. Then the national teams take over. The men face Chile on Sept. 26 in Toronto and Peru on Oct. 3 in Montreal before visiting the United States on Oct. 6 in St. Paul. The women host Denmark on Oct. 9 in Montreal and Oct. 12 in Toronto.

"Making important matches like these available to broad audiences is part of how we build on this momentum."

It is a straightforward play: strike while the country still cares. The summer gave Canadian soccer the biggest audience it has ever had. The fall schedule is the first attempt to make that audience a habit.
