CALI, Colombia — Bianca Andreescu beat Argentina’s Luisina Giovannini 6-1, 6-3 on Thursday to reach the semifinals of the WTA 125 Cali Open.
The eighth seed from Mississauga, Ont., has not dropped a set this week. She beat Tamara Zidansek of Slovenia 6-2, 6-3 in the first round and Jazmin Ortenzi of Argentina 6-2, 6-3 in the second round.
It is Andreescu’s 13th straight win. She took the WTA 125 title in Queretaro last week, beating top seed Tatjana Maria 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 in the final, after winning the WTA 125 in Rovereto in October.
Andreescu is ranked No. 109 in the world, up 20 places in this week’s WTA rankings. Giovannini is ranked No. 191. A former world No. 4, Andreescu last held a top-100 ranking in June 2025 and is closing on a return to it.
She plays France’s Alice Tubello in Friday’s semifinal. Tubello is ranked No. 152 and won the WTA 125 title in Curitiba on Sunday. The Cali final is on Saturday.
