CHL reveals Nos. 30–21 on Top 50 Players list

CALGARY — The Canadian Hockey League released players ranked No. 30 through No. 21 on its Top 50 Players of the Last 50 Years list Thursday as part of its 50th anniversary season.

At No. 30, Connor Bedard recorded 271 points in 134 games with the Regina Pats, including 143 points in 57 games in 2022-23. He swept CHL Top Draft Prospect, Top Scorer, and Player of the Year honours before going first overall in 2023 and winning the Calder Trophy in 2024.

No. 29 Denis Savard produced 455 points in 214 QMJHL games, including a 181-point MVP season. He went on to record 1,338 NHL points and win the Stanley Cup in 1993.

At No. 28, Mike Modano totaled 294 points in 176 games with Prince Albert. He became the first American developed through the CHL to be selected first overall and finished his NHL career with 561 goals, 1,374 points, and a Stanley Cup in 1999.

No. 27 Grant Fuhr won WHL Rookie of the Year and Goaltender of the Year honours before becoming a cornerstone of the Edmonton Oilers dynasty, capturing five Stanley Cups and the Vezina Trophy while finishing with 403 NHL wins.

At No. 26, Luc Robitaille recorded 424 points in 197 QMJHL games, including a 191-point season. He scored 668 NHL goals, won the Calder Trophy, and captured the Stanley Cup with Detroit.

No. 25 Marc-André Fleury earned QMJHL Defensive Player of the Year and Top Prospect honours before being selected first overall in 2003. He won three Stanley Cups, a Vezina Trophy, and played more than 1,000 NHL games.

At No. 24, Corey Perry set a London Knights record with 380 points in 253 games and won OHL MVP. He led the club to a Memorial Cup title and later won the Stanley Cup, Hart Trophy, and Rocket Richard Trophy.

No. 23 Doug Gilmour recorded 177 points in 1982-83 to win OHL MVP and Top Scorer honours. He later won the Stanley Cup with Calgary in 1989 as part of the franchise’s only championship team and finished his NHL career with 1,414 points.

At No. 22, Carey Price was named CHL Goaltender of the Year and set Tri-City franchise records. He won the Hart, Vezina, Ted Lindsay, and Jennings trophies in 2014-15 and is the winningest goaltender in Montreal Canadiens history.

No. 21 Patrick Kane recorded 145 points in 58 games in his only OHL season, winning CHL Rookie of the Year and the scoring title. He went on to win three Stanley Cups along with the Hart, Art Ross, Conn Smythe, and Ted Lindsay trophies.

The Top 50 list was selected by a panel of more than 40 media members, with final rankings determined through a weighted combination of media and fan voting. Criteria included CHL performance, NHL and international success, individual awards, championships, and overall impact.
