Wild score three second-half goals in 3–1 win over Rise

CALGARY — Three second-half goals lifted the Calgary Wild to a 3–1 win over the Vancouver Rise on Sunday at McMahon Stadium.

Alex Lamontagne opened the scoring for Vancouver in the 35th minute. Taylor Otto levelled it two minutes into the second half, Meggie Dougherty Howard put Calgary in front in the 56th minute, and Jorian Baucom wrapped up the win in the 64th.

The Rise held 58 per cent of possession and outshot Calgary 17–7, but the Wild had the 4–3 edge in shots on target.

It's Calgary's second win in its last three matches, moving the Wild to 4–13–5. Vancouver drops to 8–11–3, one point ahead of the Halifax Tides (7–10–5) in the race for the league's fourth and final playoff spot.

Calgary is already out of the playoff race and has three matches left, all on the road. The Wild visit Halifax Tides FC on Oct. 3 and AFC Toronto on Oct. 18 before a rematch with Vancouver on Oct. 25.
